Born in 1962 in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, percussionist, singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist and leader of samba schools, Carlinhos Brown is at the edge of the Brazilian musical avant-garde because he relies on their very rich roots, unlike many other artists. He is also a great percussions virtuoso. His independent music schools were founded voluntarily by himself in the "favelas" (shantytowns). A success story in a country still plagued by the power of money.
