Biography and commentary:

Zakir Hussain (born 1951), son of the great percussionist Ustad Alla Rakha (they will record memorable duets and Ustad recorded a duet with Buddy Rich), is an Indian hand percussionist (tabla) who played with contemporary Indian masters and jazz virtuosos (first with John McLaughlin: "Shakti", 1975, formed after the dissolution of the "Mahavishnu Orchestra"), without betraying the quality of his playing. Indian percussion is also with oral transmission.
